Cablenet Communication Systems Plc
We are seeking a motivated Junior Network Engineer to assist in operating, monitoring, and supporting high-performance IP and optical transport networks. If you have a solid foundation in IP and DWDM technologies, a passion for troubleshooting and network optimization, and a drive to grow within a dynamic engineering environment, this is your chance to be part of our next-generation connectivity journey.
Responsibilities
• Perform daily operational checks across Access IP platforms (BNG, DHCP, RADIUS, Metro IP rings, CMTS/PON, DNS, CPE) and Transport platforms (DWDM/OTN, ROADM nodes, national and international fiber links)
• Monitor KPIs such as DHCP lease success, DNS latency, modem/ONT registration, spectral utilization, and backbone availability
• Assist in first-line troubleshooting of incidents across both Access IP and Transport domains, gathering logs, alarms, and diagnostic data for escalation
• Support configuration and provisioning tasks under supervision, including DHCP pool or DNS updates, Metro monitoring adjustments, and DWDM/OTN wavelength or service activation
• Participate in network acceptance and validation tests, including CPE firmware and ACS testing (TR-069, IPv6 provisioning, Wi-Fi checks) and optical transport performance verification (optical power, latency, jitter)
• Help ensure provisioned services meet operational and performance standards
• Maintain accurate and updated documentation of network configurations, test logs, SOPs, and inventory databases
• Collaborate with Network Engineers and NOC teams to diagnose, escalate, and resolve alarms or performance anomalies
• Contribute to process improvements, reporting automation, and network reliability initiatives
• Shadow senior engineers during provisioning, upgrades, and project deployments to build practical expertise
• Participate in structured learning and training programs across Access IP, MPLS, DHCP/RADIUS, CMTS/OLT, and optical transport (DWDM/OTN) systems
• Support network maintenance activities and vendor coordination under supervision
• Develop foundational operational autonomy and demonstrate readiness for more advanced engineering tasks over time
Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field
• 0–2 years of experience in networking or telecom operations/support
• University projects, labs, or internships in IP/optical networking are highly valued
• Hands-on exposure to routers, optical transport equipment, or CPE devices is an advantage
• Basic understanding of IP networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing – OSPF, BGP, DNS, DHCP)
• Awareness of access technologies (DOCSIS/CMTS, GPON, CPE/ACS) and optical transport concepts (DWDM, OTN, multiplexing)
• Familiarity with Linux CLI; basic scripting (Python/Bash) knowledge is a plus
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and analytical skills
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and escalation discipline
• Detail-oriented, reliable, and proactive in monitoring and reporting
• Eager to learn across both IP and Transport domains and flexible for standby roster assignments
Certifications (Preferred, Not Required)
• Entry-level certifications such as Cisco CCNA or Juniper JNCIA
• Vendor training or short courses in optical or transport systems are a plus
• Willingness to pursue further certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIS, or optical vendor courses)
We Offer
• Competitive compensation package
• 13th salary
• Free medical insurance
• Provident Fund
• Performance-based bonus
• Training and development through online platforms and on-the-job learning
• Paid sick leave, wedding, and childbirth gifts
